Hi! I’m Ava, a Y12 student at CIS, and I am the co-founder and editor in chief of the HEARD Journal. Haru and I started this initiative because we believe in the power of girl’s voices, as well as the importance of storytelling. Our goal is to create a space, where all girls feel HEARD and valued, no matter who they are. Outside of the HEARD Journal, I enjoy netball, hanging out with my friends, and baking. I'm really looking forward to creating within the HEARD Journal, and reading work from our passionate writers! I hope this opportunity invites girls to share their artistic story-telling abilities with the world. My other hobbies include filmmaking, photography, acting and crocheting. Tsui
Head of arts
Hello! My name is Lily, Im currently a Year 12 student at CISHK, and I am the Head of Arts for the HEARD Journal. One reason why the HEARD Journal inspires me is because it gives everyone a voice, and allows them to share their unique stories and perspectives. In my role, I will use art to support the various themes. I design the journal covers and created other illustrations to be included throughout the journal. I really enjoy taking the ideas we want to communicate and turning them into visuals that feel meaningful and reflective of everyone’s perspectives. Alongside that, outside of The HEARD Journal, I enjoy playing tennis, talking about current affairs, writing short stories and spending time with my family and friends. I am beyond excitedly to be in this seem, and cannot wait to see what is coming !
Head of photography
Hi! I’m Jacey, a student at CISHK, and I am the Head of Photography for the HEARD Journal. My role within the journal will be to create photography for cover pages and the various articles within the journal, while supporting others trying to do the same. I think the HEARD Journal is impactful because it provides a widespread space for a variety of people globally to discuss important topics and share various mediums of art. Outside photography, I enjoy making films, crocheting, playing netball and volleyball as well as experiencing new things. Ultimately, I hope that in this role I hope to support HEARD photographers into finding their own unique view of the world around them so they can share it with the world, and I can't wait to get started!
